Health authorities in Gaza reported on Thursday that Israeli gunfire targeting people awaiting aid near Gaza City resulted in the deaths of 104 Palestinians and the injury of 280 others. One hospital disclosed receiving 10 bodies and numerous injured patients.
In response, a spokesperson for the Israeli military stated that they had no information about any shelling occurring at that specific location. However, the military later acknowledged that numerous individuals sustained injuries due to the chaotic situation that arose when aid trucks arrived in northern Gaza.
According to an Israeli source, troops fired upon “several people” in the crowd whom they perceived as posing a threat.
The office of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas denounced what it termed as an “ugly massacre” carried out by the Israeli army against those awaiting aid trucks at the Nabulsi roundabout.
Gaza Health Ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qidra confirmed that the incident occurred at the al-Nabusi roundabout, situated west of Gaza City in the enclave’s northern region.
Al-Qidra further noted that medical teams struggled to manage the influx of wounded individuals at al-Shifa hospital, given the volume and severity of injuries sustained.
