difficult. If you decide to crack, no one can stop you from passing this exam”

Jammu and Kashmir: Clearing the prestigious examination of the Union Public Service Commission is not
an easy task. Many candidates have not had the good luck to pass this examination
despite making several attempts. However, some lucky ones have succeeded.
Choudhary Ashiq, a 24-year young guy from far off Reasi district has the
distinction of clearing this prestigious examination in his first attempt which is
something extraordinary and meritorious. As an engineering student, he completed
the course in engineering and won Bachelor of Engineering from Kurukshetra
University, Haryana. He then decided to prepare for the UPSC examination. He is
also a gold medalist in his engineering degree.

Talking to KRT News, Chowdhury Ashiq said, ” It is not to say that I qualified
the UPSC examination by a freak of luck. No, the fact is that I worked very hard
and with determination to succeed in qualifying this examination. When I started
preparing I didn’t know how many years I shall have to spend to arrive at the goal.
But then I said to myself, whatever be the case I shall not allow myself to be
discouraged in any case.I started preparing in 2017 after completing an engineering degree. Initially, I
faced many problems because I came with a science background and I did not have
a strong background of other art subjects which are compulsory for the
preliminary examination.”
He went on to say,” I started my preparation from NCERT books, from the 6 th to
the 12 th standard. I moved on to other books after having made the base of my art
knowledge strong.” Ashiq asserted, “Qualifying UPSC is not as much difficult as people make it look
difficult. If you decide to crack, no one can stop you from passing this exam.”

He couldn’t go for training and was waiting for new dates to start his training. He
observed that in this situation when one has a lot of time at his disposal one can
prepare for many examinations. There are various websites and YouTube channels
which will help us to clear doubts. “When I was preparing for the UPSC
examination, I used to follow The Hindu newspaper and some YouTube channels to
equip myself with knowledge. This helped me in many ways”, he added. “You have
to improve your writing, listening and communication skills. These three are the
most significant skills for cracking this examination, he commented.

Ashiq Choudhary also works for society in real life. He takes classes of poor
students without charging anything and even serves food to some of the very poor
students in this pandemic situation.
